Welcome to Dan’s Fly Shop based in Gorham, New Hampshire. Gorham is located in northern NH along the Androscoggin River, one of the finest rivers in the Northeast. We are also blessed with many smaller rivers and streams, not to mention all the lakes and ponds in the area. I have fished this area since I was a kid and have only got to know a handful of its waters really well, I still have a lot to look forward to!

One of my favorite aspects of fly fishing is all the wonderful fly patterns including streamers + bucktails, dry flies, wet flies, nymphs, bass bugs, and more. A big part of the enjoyment of the fly fishing lifestyle for me, is tying flies. I have been tying for almost twenty years and I still manage to learn new things all the time and that’s what keeps it interesting.

What I offer here is a handful of fly patterns in each of the basic groups most commonly used by the fly fisher. Some are the tried and true patterns that you may recognize. Some are my own patterns developed over time experimenting at the vise and on the water. These flies are geared toward freshwater fly fishing but some can be effective in saltwater also. Whether you’re a seasoned veteran of the sport or just getting into it I think you’ll find some useful patterns to add to your fly boxes.
You don’t have to have a lot of money or be an expert entomologist to have fun fly fishing. Some basic equipment and a box of well tied flies are all you need to get “hooked” into a sport that can provide you with a life time of enjoyment.
